What is Better Inglés?

Better Inglés is a unique English language club for small groups of adult Spanish speakers. It’s designed for those who want to improve their intermediate to advanced English.

We focus on helping you refine your English in all areas, with pronunciation woven throughout everything we do. You’ll experience proven, engaging language-learning methods, and your English will sound more natural, flow more smoothly, and be easier to understand — whether at work or in your everyday life.

Better Inglés es un club de idioma inglés. único para pequeños grupos de adultos hispanohablantes. Está pensado para quienes quieren mejorar su inglés de nivel intermedio a avanzado.

Nos centramos en ayudarte a perfeccionar tu inglés en todos los aspectos, con la pronunciación integrada en todo el proceso. Utilizamos métodos de aprendizaje eficaces, dinámicos y divertidos, y tu inglés sonará más natural, tendrá más fluidez y será más fácil de entender, tanto en el trabajo como en tu día a día.

How it Works

Here's how Better Inglés works:

BetterInglés is an English Learner's Club designed specifically for intermediate to advanced native Spanish speakers (from any Spanish speaking country). Adults only.
If you're interested, you'll need to do a brief, friendly English level assessment (written and verbal), to ensure that you don't get frustrated or disappointed if the level is too advanced for where you are right now -- OR that your level is too advanced for this group and you would get bored! If you've never studied with me before, you only have to do this once. You won't have to do it for future sessions. If you have studied with me before, just send me an email (denise @ betteringles.com) and you don't need to do the evaluation.
Our meetings are centered around a short English book at an intermediate to advanced level, chosen by the group.
We'll include pronunciation tips and practice in every meeting.
We focus on practical English, so that you can communicate better, more fluidly, and with more confidence in your community and/or work.
Sessions last about 2 months, with meetings once a week on Tues or Thurs morning for 2 hours.
You'll need to do homework, including English practice, between meetings - but only about 10 - 15 min a day.
Groups are small (4 to 6 people) so that you get plenty of time to speak English with a native speaker, as well as other Club members. And you'll get personal help to improve your English.
Club cost: Instruction is free. Club members pay for their book and a small supply fee. Total cost is $25 per 2 month session.
Club meetings are held in person, in Longmont.
And just maybe, from time to time, there might be club social gatherings to share great food and practice English. 😉

Así es cómo funciona Better Inglés:

Better Inglés es un Club para estudiantes de inglés diseñado específicamente para hablantes nativos de español (de cualquier país hispanohablante) con un nivel intermedio a avanzado. Solo para adultos.
Si te interesa, tendrás que hacer una breve y amistosa evaluación de nivel de inglés (escrita y oral) para asegurarnos que no te frustres ni te decepciones si el nivel resulta demasiado avanzado para ti en este momento… O de que tu nivel sea demasiado alto para este grupo y acabes aburriéndote. Si nunca has estudiado conmigo antes, solo tienes que hacer esto una vez. No tendrás que hacerlo en futuras sesiones.
Si ya has estudiado conmigo, simplemente envíame un correo electrónico (denise@betteringles.com) y no necesitas hacer la evaluación.
Nuestras reuniones se centran en un libro corto en inglés de nivel intermedio a avanzado, elegido por el grupo.
En cada reunión incluiremos consejos y práctica de pronunciación.
Nos centramos en el inglés práctico, para que puedas comunicarte mejor, con más fluidez y confianza, tanto en tu comunidad como en tu trabajo.
Las sesiones duran aproximadamente 2 meses, con reuniones una vez a la semana, los martes o jueves por la mañana, durante 2 horas.
Tendrás que hacer tareas, incluyendo práctica de inglés, entre reuniones - pero solo 10 - 15 min al dia.
Los grupos son pequeños (de 4 a 6 personas), para que tengas tiempo suficiente para hablar en inglés con un hablante nativo, así como con otros miembros del Club. Además, recibirás ayuda personalizada para mejorar tu inglés.
Coste del club: La instrucción es gratuita.
Los miembros del club pagan su libro y una pequeña cuota de material. El coste total es de $25 por cada sesión de 2 meses.
Las reuniones del Club son presenciales, en Longmont..
Y quizá, de vez en cuando, haya encuentros sociales del Club para compartir buena comida y practicar inglés. 😉

Hey! Welcome to Better Inglés!

I´m Denise - a certified and experienced English teacher. I'm also a language learner, so I understand what it's like to feel a bit "stuck" and struggle to move from "pretty good" to fluent in your target language. I'm still working on my Spanish.

My own goals to improve my Spanish have helped me learn new and exciting methods of teaching and learning a language - including pronunciation, which is super important, and often completely left out of English classes.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is the club only for native Spanish speakers? Why don't you include speakers of other languages?

A: Good question! I LOVE teaching students from all over the world! In my experience teaching students from many countries in a single class (I once had students from 12 countries in one class!) I've noticed something important. When students share a common native language, they all have many of the same challenges in perfecting their English - especially with pronunciation. I've learned that when the group shares a common native language, they are able to help and support each other better. And they learn faster together. So I've chosen to focus on Spanish speakers for now - so that we can work on their specific language learning needs. One day, if there is enough interest, I may also offer separate classes for groups of other language speakers.

P: ¿Por qué el club es solo para hispanohablantes? ¿Por qué no incluís a hablantes de otros idiomas?

A: ¡Buena pregunta! ¡ME ENCANTA enseñar a estudiantes de todo el mundo! En mi experiencia dando clases con alumnos de muchos países en una misma aula (una vez tuve estudiantes de 12 países diferentes en una sola clase!) he notado algo importante. Cuando los alumnos comparten una lengua materna común, todos suelen tener muchos de los mismos retos a la hora de perfeccionar su inglés —especialmente al trabajar la pronunciación—. He aprendido que cuando el grupo comparte un mismo idioma nativo, pueden ayudarse y apoyarse mejor entre ellos, y aprenden más rápido juntos. Por eso he decidido centrarme, por ahora, en los hablantes de español, para poder trabajar en sus necesidades específicas de aprendizaje del idioma. Algún día, si hay suficiente interés, quizá también ofrezca clases separadas para grupos de hablantes de otras lenguas.

Q: Why don't you charge for teaching?

A: I don't charge for my time to prepare for or teach club meetings. Club members pay only expenses for books and supplies. I'm lucky to have the freedom to share my time and experience with club members. It's a pleasure for me.

Q: Where are club meetings held?

A: All meetings will be held in person in Longmont. Specific location will be shared after your membership is accepted.

Q: I work and/or have a family. Sometimes I may not be able to do homework, or come to a meeting. Is that OK?

A: Don't worry! I understand that we all have busy lives. It's important to do your homework and to come to meetings in order to improve your language skills. But I also know that things can get crazy. So if you occasionally have challenges getting things done or coming to a meeting, of course that's fine. Just let me know as soon as you can. If something big happens in your life, and you can no longer come to meetings, just please let me know as soon as possible. Group size is very limited, so it's important for you to show up and do the work -- or let me know that you can't -- so that someone else can take your place in the club.

P: ¿Por qué no cobras por enseñar?

R: No cobro por mi tiempo para preparar o enseñar las reuniones del club. Los miembros del club pagan los gastos de libros y materiales. Tengo la libertad de compartir mi tiempo y experiencia con los miembrs. Es un placer.

P: ¿Dónde son las reuniones del club?

R: Todas las reuniones serán presenciales en Longmont. Te compartiremos el lugar exacto cuando tu membresía esté aceptada.

P: Trabajo y/o tengo familia. A veces puede que no pueda hacer los deberes o asistir a una reunión. ¿Está bien?

R: ¡No te preocupes! Sé que todos tenemos vidas ocupadas. Es importante hacer los deberes y asistir a las reuniones para mejorar tu nivel de inglés, pero también entiendo que a veces las cosas se complican. Si alguna vez te resulta difícil hacer las tareas o venir a una reunión, no pasa nada, solo avísame lo antes posible. Y si ocurre algo importante en tu vida y no puedes seguir asistiendo, por favor dímelo cuanto antes. Nuestro grupo es pequeño, así que es importante que participes y hagas el trabajo, o que nos avises si no puedes, para que otra persona pueda aprovechar tu lugar en el club.
